If touring Sonoma wine country in a convertible sounds cliché, how about touring in a Tesla? Via PRNewswire, Farmhouse Inn is now offering guests an eco-friendly opportunity to tour Sonoma in a Tesla Model X.
Tours start at $400 per couple and include a highly curated list of wineries that are both high-quality and off the beaten tourist path. For example, one itinerary includes tastings at the award-winning Gary Farrell, Three Sticks, and Repris, along with a catered lunch from highly popular Sonoma restaurant The Girl & The Fig.
Via the press release, the inn stated that it would have offered self-driving tours, were it not for a rejection from their insurance company. Self-driving cars aside, the inn is working to improve the experience in other ways, recently completing an $8 million renovation. For its efforts, it recently won the award for top hotel in California on the 2015 and 2016 Travel + Leisure World’s Best lists.
Tesla tours in wine country aren’t new — they’re currently offered by Tesla Tours & Transportation for $95/hr, and Sonoma Adventures for $85/hr — but Farmhouse Inn is one of the first local hotels to offer this option. Without a doubt, this is just the start of a trend of increased electric car tours from hotels and lodgings.
