It was only a matter of time. We’ve got Game of Thrones wine, Outlanders wine, The Bachelor wine… Now, eight seasons in, The Walking Dead fans finally have their own wine.
AMC has partnered with online wine sale site Lot 18 to launch three limited edition wines honoring The Walking Dead. Each wine is a full-bodied (dare we say bloody?) Californian red designed for thick, juicy cuts of meat and barbecue. Perfectly fitting for a hearty, post-apocalypse meal.
Of course, each wine is also named after a key character in the show. First, there’s the 2016 Daryl Dixon California Cabernet Sauvignon. Just as Dixon is the quiet, yet fiercely loyal protector of his friends, this Cabernet Sauvignon is a reliable wine with a core of smoky dark fruit, balanced by more savory herbal notes.
Fans looking for a wine with a bit more grip should opt for the 2016 Rick Grimes California Petite Sirah. Rick Grimes is the undisputed leader of the group, just as this wine’s firm tannic structure and bright acidity will command your attention.
Finally, those looking for a wine with a touch of sweetness can find their match with the 2016 Negan California Bourbon Barrel Red Blend. As a bourbon barrel-aged blend of 73% Merlot, 18% Zinfandel, and 9% Petit Syrah, this wine will have more extracted flavors of dark fruit tinged in caramel, chocolate, and vanilla. These flavors are likened to Negan, the charmingly manipulative antagonist of the show.
