The iconic Penfolds Grange is renowned around the world, and is actually listed as an official Heritage icon of South Australia. So it comes as no surprise that Penfolds is launching a new wine honoring the creator of the Grange.
Via Wine Enthusiast, Penfolds today launched Max’s in the United States. The line is named after legendary Penfolds winemaker Max Schubert, and celebrates his same multi-regional and multi-varietal approach. Similar to the Grange, the wines source from multiple districts. However, the Grange is primarily Shiraz and has significant proportions from Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale. Max’s has multiple varietals, including Cabernet Sauvignon and a Cabernet-Shiraz blend.
The coolest part? The wine bottles come in red shrink wrap, and are meant to be “unzipped”. This is a hint at secret vintages Schubert was known to have once created.
The wines retail at $25. Find out more at penfolds.com.
