Romantic, intimate, smooth — Boyz II Men and wine have more in common than you might think. So it’s no surprise that the band is now launching its own aptly-named Harmony Wines. In fact, the wine’s motto, “Pour the wine, light the fire,” is a line from their hit single “I’ll Make Love to You”.
Currently, the Harmony Wines line includes a Bordeaux rosé, a Bordeaux white, and a Bordeaux rouge (red). The wines are made by Chateau Auguste, Bordeaux Superieur-designated vineyard in the Entre-Deux-Mers region. The wines are also entirely organic, which is fitting to the band. In a recent interview, Boyz II Men stated that, like the wine, “our harmony is organic.”
The best part? The grapes were all grown with the Boyz II Men music playing in the background. The practice, called Genodics, is now employed in vineyards from France to South Africa. Ultimately, winegrowers hope that the vibrations from the music will make the grapes more resistant to disease.
While it’s unclear whether these “pampered” grapes taste any different from regular wine grapes, we do know that the resulting wine is built to be elegant and approachable. Tasting notes for the white wine describe intense white fruit aromatics of peach, pear, acacia, and citrus, with a floral and mineral note. Tasting notes for the Bordeaux Rouge include “blackberry, blueberry, dark plum, black cherry, licorice, and cedar with a beautifully persistent finish.”
Boyz II Men launched their wines with a concert at the Fontainebleu in Miami. Going forward, the wines will be sold for $19.99 each at ShopHarmonyWines.com, or ABC Fine Wine & Spirits stores in Florida. The wines can also be purchased for delivery via Drizly.
