Charles Woodson Intercept Wines Pinot Noir
  • Intercept Wines 2017 Pinot Noir, Monterey County
  • Price: $18
  • Overall impression: The Intercept Pinot Noir offers excellent value, with a layered complexity that transcends its price. Elegant, yet approachable.
  • Color: Translucent garnet red
  • Bouquet: Initially, a waft of florals and vanilla cream hit the nose. It’s followed by red cherry, macerated strawberry, cranberry, and black tea. A hint of warm baking spices rounds out the aromatics nicely.
  • Palate: The wine is delightfully smooth and approachable. Its ripe fruit, medium acidity, and silky tannins make this an enjoyable wine on its own or with cedar plank-roasted salmon. Completely dry finish.
  • Serving suggestion: While the wine is ready to drink now, you will achieve greater depth of flavor by lightly decanting it, or letting it evolve in the glass for fifteen minutes before drinking.
