WWE’s Carmella Launches Capo Cagna Wines

First, WWE Smackdown stars Nikki and Brie Bella launched Belle Radici Wines. Now, WWE wrestler Carmella (a.ka. Leah Van Damme) is jumping into the ring with a wine of her own: Capo Cagna. The name translates roughly to “Boss Bitch”, and is an acknowledgement that we all “deserve to feel like a boss”.

Carmella’s passion for wine dates back to her Italian-American upbringing. Via an interview with Cheddar, Carmella shared that every Sunday, her family had pasta dinners together, along with red wine — even the children as young as ten!

Today, wine remains central to Carmella’s hectic schedule, helping her unwind after a long day. “We’re on the road 300 days a year. We’re constantly on hotels, airplanes, and rental cars,” she stated via Cheddar. After an extensive career, first as a cheerleader for the England Patriots, then as a wrestler and actress on E! Total Divas, Carmella is thrilled to make wine her next endeavor.

Despite her multimillionaire status, Carmella doesn’t like spending a lot on wine. Capo Cagna is priced at an accessible $20 per bottle, and clearly states that it is not for wine snobs. “If you sense a taste or note of oak, or dog fur, or whatever it is you sense in your wine… this is not for you!” said Carmella via Instagram.

Capo Cagna’s “no wine snobs” attitude gives us a hint at what we can expect from the wine — no tasting notes, and definitely no emphasis on terroir or vineyards. To create Capo Cagna, Carmella partnered with a wine expert to learn more about winemaking.

While she may not be a wine expert, one thing is clear: this #bossbitch knows how to sell wine. Both Carmella’s Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are entirely sold out just a few days after launch. To learn more or sign up to be notified of additional availability, visit capocagna.com.
