Jon Bon Jovi is Launching a Rosé with Gérard Bertrand

If you think the rosé craze already peaked, think again. Jon Bon Jovi is partnering with leading wine producer Gérard Bertrand to bring a new rosé to fans nationwide. Fittingly, it will be named Diving Into Hamptons Water, alluding to the countless poolside occasions where rosé is a staple.

But hang on. When did Bon Jovi and his rock band have anything to do with rosé? Actually, the wine starts with Bon Jovi’s son, Jesse Bongiovi. In a true brosé tale, father and son spent countless hours together in the Hamptons drinking “pink juice”. Over time, Jesse was inspired to create their own wine. To capture the essence of their “bon vivant” lifestyle, he dubbed it “Hamptons Water” — and the name stuck.

As Bon Jovi and Jesse started to build out their rosé idea, they were introduced to Gérard Bertrand. Bertrand himself is no stranger to the limelight, having had a successful career as a rugby player with RC Narbonne and eventually leading the team as captain. Now, Bertrand owns 11 vineyards and over 600 hectares in the Languedoc Roussillon.

If you haven’t had one of Gerard Bertrand’s 90+ rated Languedoc blends, you may have seen his captivating rosé bottles at a Costco or Target. The bottom of the bottle looks like a rose:

Bertrand, Bon Jovi, and Jesse quickly hit it off, making numerous trips to Bertrand’s wineries to understand the nuances of Languedoc rosé. Countless blending and tasting sessions later, the team arrived at a refreshing French Mediterranean blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Mourvèdre, with “distinctive” minerality.

“We’d tried rosé from everywhere,” says Jesse.  “But when we visited Gérard, we realized that there is an entire coastline in France that is producing some of the best-kept secrets on Earth.”

Expect to see Diving Into Hamptons Water on shelves before spring of 2018, at $25 per bottle. Learn more at hamptonwaterwine.com.
