Rock out with Red Fang Wines

What happens when a winemaker loves heavy metal? He makes a wine about it, of course. Teutonic Wine Company, a small-production winery from the Willamette Valley, Oregon, has teamed up with metal band Red Fang to release a new wine.

The world of heavy metal and wine doesn’t collide too often. We have Mustaine Vineyards from Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine, and Caduceus Vineyards from Grammy Award-winning metal band Tool. But otherwise, the space remains small.

The Teutonic Wine Company collaboration was born when drummer John Sherman visited their winery and heard Saxon playing, via Blabbermouth. Sherman is a wine aficionado, and became a frequent visitor to Teutonic Wine Company. From there, it was only a matter of time before Red Fang Wines was started.

Naturally, Red Fang’s inaugural wine must be red, so the team is releasing a Red Fang Red Blend. The new red blend is made of Pinot Noir, Tannat, and Gewurtztraminer, and appears to be medium-bodied and fruit-forward. Of course, you can also purchase a custom Teutonic rocker horn wine glass to complete the heavy metal wine experience.

The wines will be launching at the Red Fang Release Party on January 13. Fans can come sample the Red Fang Red Blend paired with corn dogs and Fritos, enjoy music DJ’d by John Sherman, and nab plenty of photo opps with the band. Tickets are $25.
