SNL Launches New Wines via Lot18

Lot18 is on a roll with its TV-themed wines this year. After releasing wines for Outlanders and The Walking Dead, they have now partnered with Saturday Night Live to launch a limited edition set of four SNL-themed wines.

Like SNL, this is a wine that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Each is loosely tied to sketches from the show, so we recommend simply picking your SNL wine based taste and flavor profile. If you’re looking for a:

Rich, savory red: Go for the 2015 The Californians Monterey County Merlot. In addition to the black cherry and red plum flavors typically expected in a Merlot, this red has notes of coffee bean and herbs that make it a more savory wine than your stereotypical soft, fruity Californian Merlot.

Powerful, bold red: If you’re looking for a very full-bodied red to pair with grilled meats, opt for the 2016 Saturday Night Live California Red Blend. While this red still is primarily Merlot, it has 9% Petit Syrah blended in for some grippy tannins that are simply begging to sit down with a Swanson’s Salisbury Steak TV dinner (and some SNL reruns).

Bright, fruit-forward red: Pick the 2016 SNL Stefan Beaujolais for a light, refreshing red dancing with red plum, red cherry, and blueberry aromatics.

Aromatic, fruit-forward white: The 2016 Debbie Downer South Eastern Australia Chardonnay is really anything but a downer. Tasting notes promise a ripe, fruit-forward Chardonnay with aromas of “citrus, baked apple and spice.”
