Looking to switch up your fitness routine? Take advantage of the last weeks of summer by enjoying yoga in the natural beauty of a vineyard. Many Napa and Sonoma wineries open their gates seasonally to yoga amongst the vines. Here are a our top picks:
If yoga and pinot sound like an amazing combination, look no further than Emeritus — where all of this can be had for the price of a normal yoga lesson ($30). The classes are taught by certified instructor Molly Vogel, who has a special focus on vineyard yoga, and helping her students honor the natural beauty of the world around them. The yoga will overlook the scenic, rolling vines of Hallberg Ranch.
Bartholomew Park Winery
For those looking to combine yoga with a more culinary experience, Bartholomew Park Winery offers vinyasa yoga followed by a private food and wine tasting. The sessions are led by instructor Sally Mitchell of Body Flows. Guests will enjoy sophisticated, refreshing bites including a bay shrimp, cucumber & dill finger sandwich, smoked duck, trumpet, maitake mushroom and hazelnut bruschetta, and truffle-scented cannellini bean & confir garlic puree with pita. The pairing platter will be matched with six estate wines. Tickets are $60 for one hour of yoga, followed by the tasting.
Ok, so technically the yoga happens in the barn at Benziger — but we’re such big fans of Benziger’s wines that we couldn’t resist including this one. Benziger produces wines that are both fully biodynamic and wonderfully balanced. From Pinot Noir to red blends, Benziger’s wines are site-specific to vineyards within the Sonoma Coast and Sonoma County. After yoga instruction from certified yogi Jes Williams, guests can enjoy a splash of refreshing Sauvignon Blanc as they tour the farm’s insectary. Tickets are $25 for an hourlong session, followed by walking tour.
If you’re not an early riser (or prefer not to pay too much for yoga) Trione Winery is your best bet. For just $12, guests can enjoy vinyasa yoga amidst cabernet sauvignon vines. Non-members will receive a complimentary wine tasting card to sample Trione’s highly-rated range of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
