Wine Steal of the Day: Maroon Cabernet on Wine.Woot

We don’t usually publish deals from online wine sample sale sites — unless we think they’re an amazing deal. And today’s Wine.Woot listing hits that mark: $69.99 for two bottles of Maroon 2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

The great thing about Maroon wines is that they are made in a style that is ready to drink now, but also has cellar potential. Maroon is renowned for its rich, supple, Cabernet Sauvignon, with that classic  bouquet of dark blackberry, blueberry, and a hint of slightly sweet tannins. They are sourced from the Coombsville AVA, which has slightly lower temperatures than the rest of Napa, allowing the grapes to achieve full ripeness without being overly fruit-forward.

For reference, the same bottle is retailing at $80 on the Maroon website, so we’re not sure why there’s such a discrepancy.
