LVMH Launches Clos19, Online Destination for Luxury Wine & Experiences

Via Business of Fashion, LVMH has launched Clos19, a new online destination for its Moët Hennessy portfolio of wines. Via Clos19, it’s more than just a website to shop for luxury wines and spirits. It’s also a hub for the Art of Hosting — “a place where good taste reigns supreme” — where visitors can learn how to master mixology, gain deeper knowledge about wine and spirits, and be inspired by the latest tastemakers and epicureans.

But first and foremost, Clos19 is  a shop for luxury wines and spirits. Its highly curated selection offers hard-to-find purchases such as Moët & Chandon Jeroboams (Nebuchadnezzars and Methuselahs also available) or Ao Yun Cabernet Sauvignon grown in China. Many bottles can also be personalized — imagine gifting a custom-engraved signet of Glenmorangie Single Malt Scotch whisky.

Second to wine and spirits, Clos19 is also a shop for luxury wine and spirits experiences. Those lucky enough to be in the UK can purchase everything from a Prestige Champagne Masterclass at the Louis Vuitton Apartment in London (£250 per person), to an at-home cocktail party bartended by a Clos19 mixologist (£2,200 per package, minimum of 15 guests), to vacations including a Scottish Highlands trip with champagne, wine, and whiskey tastings at the Gleneagles estate (£7,500 for two).

Clos19 attempts to fill a void in the wine eCommerce space. With wine.com, Amazon Wine, and WineExpress.com dominating online wine sales as a whole, there are no major outlets for high end wine or experiences. It will be interesting to see if other wine conglomerates such as Constellation Brands or Gallo Wines follow this approach.
