Online Shopping Roundup: New Wines on Sale

Clearly, we at The Wine Daily are obsessed with trolling the internet for wine. Post-trolling, the evidence is overwhelming: there are plenty of sales to be had. Here are our latest finds (you’re welcome).

Brunello di Montalcino 2011 Castello Banfi – Originally $80, now $63.99 on Wine.com

90 points on Wine Spectator and 91 points from Robert Parker

Normally, the four-year barrel aging requirements of Brunello di Montalcino result in a firmer tannic structure. Castello Banfi manages to achieve softer wines through modern winemaking techniques and careful clonal management.

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2011 Louis Latour – Originally $129, now $86.95 on WineExpress.com92 points on Wine Spectator and 94 points from Wine Enthusiast

High summer rains and humidity made 2011 a more difficult vintage for Burgundy, which is likely why this acclaimed Grand Cru vineyard is on sale. However, the best of this vintage express a delicate complexity, and are candidates for the cellar. Reviews include “great weight, richness and ripe yellow fruits, all surrounded by wood and citrus flavors. A sense of mineral in the texture adds complexity, while the firm structure needs to age. Drink from 2018.”

Miraval Rose 2015 – Originally $30, now $21.99 on Wine.com

90 points on Wine Spectator and 90 points from Wine & Spirits

This is Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s winemaking venture — and yes, you’ll want to get your hold on the vintages of Miraval Rosé that were produced under their investment. The Jolie-Pitts recruited the Perrin Family from Château Beaucastel to help produce rosé at their vineyard. Reviews of this particular vintage note that the wine is “perfectly balanced between crisp fruit and acidity. In the background a touch of tannin accompanies pepper and mineralogy.”
